Ambassador of Canada – H.E. Heidi Alberta Hulan

Heidi Alberta Hulan (BA Joint Hons [Philosophy & Political Science] McGill University) joined the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in 1996. At Headquarters, she has worked in a variety of assignments including Policy Advisor to the Foreign Minister, Deputy Director of the International Commission on Intervention and State Sovereignty, Director of the Peacebuilding and Human Security Division, Director Non-Proliferation and Disarmament Division, Director General Non-Proliferation and Security Threat Reduction, and most recently as Director General, International Security Policy. Overseas, she has served as Minister Counsellor and Head of Political Section at Canada’s Permanent Mission to the UN in New York and was Deputy Permanent Representative of Canada to NATO from 2010-2013. She is a past recipient of both the Minister’s Citation for Foreign Policy Excellence and the Deputy Minister’s Award of Excellence. Ms. Hulan is married to David Slinn, and they have one child, Sophie.
