Ambassador William C. Eacho welcomed international composers, conductors, film makers, musicians, and actors on September 21, to a reception at his residence honoring Austrian-American ties in film and music. Guests included Americans Bruce Broughton, a ten-time Emmy Award winner, and Alan Silvestri, who wrote scores for more than 100 movies, including "Forest Gump" and "The Polar Express." The reception was part of this year’s "Hollywood in Vienna", a project founded in 2007 that highlights the contributions of legendary Viennese composers such as Max Steiner and Erich Wolfgang Korngold to contemporary film music. "Hollywood in Vienna" included a symposium at the University for Music and Performing Arts, and a sold out concert at Vienna’s Konzerthaus, where Alan Silvestri received this year’s Max Steiner film music award by the City of Vienna. The concert was also broadcasted by national television ORF.
