Alberto CARNERO - Ambassador of Spain.

Alberto Carnero was born in Madrid, Spain in 1962. He is married, with three children.

 

In 1986 he graduated in Law at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He holds a Master’s Degree in International Studies by the Diplomatic School of Madrid and specialised in National Defence Studies at CESEDEN. He holds rank as Infantry Second Lieutenant.

 

Over his years as a Diplomat he served at the Spanish Embassy in Liberia; was appointed Consul in Manila and was a political counsellor at the Spanish Embassy in Germany.

 

From 1997 to 2004 he worked for José María Aznar at the Prime Minister’s Office as Advisor, Foreign Policy Chief for Latin America and later on as Head of the International Policy and Security Department. Afterwards he was working as Director of the International Department at FAES Foundation, chaired by José María Aznar.

 

From January 2012 to May 2013 he worked as Deputy Director of Cabinet of Spanish Minister for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation.

 

On May 17th, he was appointed by Spanish Government, as Ambassador of Spain in Vienna, Austria.
